William J. Parlapiano III, CM, CIAQ is the Dean of Workforce Development and Education Programs with our GrEEnCollarEdu.net branch of services. He brings a rich background of extensive and diverse professional experience which includes: President of his own consulting firm BP Consulting; service in the United States Army developing and flying airborne intelligence systems; technical, staff, and executive management positions as a mechanical contractor; Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning, Indoor Air Quality & Building (Forensics) Science consultant; project manager with the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority; and former Chief Executive Officer for the Building Performance Institute, Inc. He also has authored and co-authored various publications; and is a regular presenter at conferences, events, and trade association programs, in addition to providing instruction to students both online and face to face.
His experience also includes service in a variety of professional association board positions with: Affordable Comfort Inc.-Advancing Home Performance, Home Energy Magazine, Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, North American Technician Excellence and the Building Performance Institute. He has served on numerous industry committees including:
Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute-ICE, Building Performance Institute-Technical Committee, North American Technician Excellence-Technical Committee and American National Standards Institute-Air Conditioning Contractors of America-Quality Installation, as well as on the United States Housing and Urban Development-Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing 36 advisory, and the United States Green Building Council Durability Committee. He is an active member of: ASHRAE, ACCA, RSES, CARE, Building Performance Contractors Association of New York State and ASIA. He is a founding supporting member of Efficiency First and the Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance.
He holds a bachelors degree in marketing and management from Siena College and has studied mechanical engineering and professional aeronautics. He is certified in Indoor Air Quality, earned his RSES Certificate Member status, and is North American Technician Excellence certified in multiple specialties.
Finally, he is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, and also volunteers his time with the local youth sports teams, Boy Scouts of America as a den leader, and the Parent-Teacher Association. In his free time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family. He loves outdoor activities such as ATV'ing, camping, fishing, golfing, baseball, and swimming.
