After 18 years working as a technician in the automotive industry Mike Gelbaugh decided it was time to make a career change. He entered the HVACR industry with a lot of positive encouragement from a good friend who was involved in the HVACR industry. Mike Gelbaugh attended training classes and also attended as many training seminars as possible to better his knowledge in the HVACR industry. After only 6 months in the industry working as a Jr. Technician he was able improve his level of knowledge and the skills required to be considered an HVACR technician.

Mike continued working as an industrial/commercial service technician for several years gaining experience on all types of equipment including the opportunity to become very familiar with various types of Direct Digital Control systems. During his time as an industrial/commercial service technician he has worked for some of the top HVACR companies in the Tidewater area of Virginia such as Chesapeake Controls, Bay Mechanical Corp., and Aramark Facility Services.

When offered the opportunity to become an HVACR instructor Mike Gelbaugh gladly accepted the position at Advanced Technology Institute in Virginia Beach, Va. where after 5 years he still enjoys the opportunity to instruct students and prepare them to be HVACR technicians. He has been helpful in keeping the course material up to date so that the students receive the best information possible. Mike has also kept himself up to date on industry changes by attending the ARI Instructor workshops the past 2 years and attending various other training seminars.

Mike Gelbaugh holds various NATE certifications, is 608 universal certified, and has passed 8 areas of HVAC Excellence certifications from ESCO Institute. He is also an active member of C.A.R.E.
