Robert earned an Associates of Specialized Electronic Engineering Technology in 1987. While earning this degree he worked as a Lab Instructor and Tutor. This was his first encounter with teaching.
After graduation he went to work at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in his hometown. From 1993 to 1997 he worked in the Engineering Department on the evening shift. Part of his duties required him to service the HVAC units for a 40 apartment HUD building that the hospital managed. These units would sometime take a lot of abuse.
Learning how to read and trace out the electrical diagrams and being able to re-wire the electrical switches on these units almost became an every night event.
In 1997, Robert was promoted to create an Information Systems Department as the hospital was moving toward an integrated computer system. During the process of integrating the Financial/Billing system, the departmental computer network and a new Clinical System, Robert earned his Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification.
Training the hospital staff on the new systems was his second encounter with teaching.
In 1999, Robert became the Network Manager at Jefferson Technical College under the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. In 2005 Jefferson Community College and Jefferson Technical College completed their merger to become Jefferson Community and Technical College. Jefferson Community and Technical College has 5
campuses, 3 in the Louisville area, 1 in Carrolton and another in Shelbyville. Robert is currently the IT Project Manager located on the Jefferson Technical Campus. While at Jefferson Robert became interested in exploring a role in teaching. He was very pleased to find HVACReducation.net and to become a member of their faculty.
