Bio - Dr. Mal Turaga


Dr. Mal Turaga is a Mechanical engineer, with 35 years of experience in the HVACR industry. He taught several HVAC systems courses in the Building Engineering department of Concordia University in Montreal (Currently called the School of Civil and Building Engineering), as Lecturer, and at Vanier College in Montreal, in the Building Systems Engineering Technology program, as Chairman of the department. At Concordia University, Mal was involved in teaching and in contract research with various companies in the HVACR fields, in product and/or systems development as well as in energy management and indoor air quality control projects.

At Vanier College, Mal was responsible for teaching, development of the new curriculum, new facilities and the new laboratories for the department (designed and built during 2004-2005).Mal has several years of experience as an International consultant in the HVACR fields in Indonesia, Colombia, US and Canada (Visit www.ssep.ia) He is a “Fellow” of the American Society of Heating, Ventilating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and a past president of the ASHRAE, Montreal chapter.

Mal has obtained his Masters degree in Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester NY, and his Doctoral degree from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He has also obtained post-graduate diploma in Collegial teaching, from McGill University in Montreal.

Most of all, Mal enjoys teaching, and he still maintains close friendships with several of his past students from the University and the College. He says, that is what keeps him active and kicking!
